Hi, it’s a pleasure to introduce myself!
My name is Michelle Castellanos; I am a biologist and a somatic and integrative therapist, trained in body-oriented therapy, biodecoding, polyvagal theory, and mind-body approaches. I support people in reconnecting with their bodies, regulating their nervous systems, and healing emotional wounds to foster fuller, more authentic, and healthier lives.
I’d like to share with you a little bit of my personal story and the “why” behind what I do. I’ll try to keep it as brief as possible. :)
I had the fortune of being born and raised in Venezuela. Since childhood, I have always felt a deep love for nature, inspiring my pursuit of a degree in biology. I love my career! Biology taught me to understand how life works from many different angles and to connect personal topics with natural processes. Academically and professionally, I achieved all my dreams, yet I still didn't feel completely fulfilled or fully connected to the scientific world; I felt some part of me needed a deeper connection with people and the spiritual realm.
On the other hand, as a child, I had many health issues, which led me to start learning about psychoneuroimmunology, meditation, and Reiki from the age of 11. Healing, living healthily, and understanding the relationship between my body and my emotions have been constant themes in my life. At first, it was very personal, but I later decided to share my experiences and the tools that helped me the most with others, so I began offering therapies while I was studying biology.
At that time, my love for nature had also led me to work as an adventure tour guide, allowing me to combine my spiritual side with outdoor activities. I offered mindful hikes in the Venezuelan Andes that included body-mind exercises and meditation. I loved it! Thanks to that, I realized that my true calling was to help people heal. I discovered that my purpose wasn't just to understand the relationship between my body and my mind but to teach others to listen to their bodies and emotions, to understand what they need to heal, and to find their paths—always with the wisdom of nature. And, of course, recognizing that to share this with others, I had to start with myself.
After a rather long and deep personal process, in 2021, I decided to pursue my dream and prioritize my well-being. Since then, I've been immersed in the world of holistic therapies, sharing the tools that have been crucial in my own journey: "self-listening", the "mind-body connection", and "somatic therapy". Learning to listen to myself through my body has allowed me to know myself, understand myself, and make decisions based on who I truly am. These practices have allowed me "to be" ("SER" in Spanish).
And as I continue my process of self-discovery, I find myself integrating and sharing what I love most: biology—the understanding of the functioning of life —and spirituality—the fullness of the soul—in mind-body connection therapies.
For me, it would be a pleasure to share with you the tools that have been crucial in my personal journey. If you would like to chat or schedule a session with me, please feel free to reach out.
